Shortcuts

The editor's Help button, the question mark at the foot of the rail on its right edge, opens this page. The keys are the same on every system; ⌘ is on a Mac and Ctrl everywhere else.

Scanning

Action	How
Open the Page Scanner panel	`Alt` + `Shift` + `P`, or the toolbar icon
Scan the page	`Enter` in the panel, where Scan this page is already focused
Pick one element to capture	`Alt` + `Shift` + `E` on the page
Take in the element's parent	`↑` while picking, and `↓` to go back
Capture the picked element	Click, or `Enter`; `Esc` cancels

Crop and marks

A right-click on the stage opens a menu of the same actions, each with its key, and one more: Crop to what is on screen.

Action	How
Copy the crop as a PNG	`⌘/Ctrl` + `C`
Crop	`C`, then drag the frame's edges
Move the crop	Drag inside the frame
Draw a mark	`R`, `O`, `L`, `A` or `H`, then drag
Write on the page	`T`, then click and type
Stamp an emoji	`E`, pick one, then click
Number the steps	`N`, then click each in turn
Show a close-up	`M`, then drag round the detail
Hide something	`B` blurs, `X` redacts, `W` erases, then drag
Cut a band out of the file	`K`, then drag down across it
Mark up the words	`H`, `B`, `X` or `W`, then drag across the text
Keep it square, or straight	Hold `Shift` while dragging
Select a mark	`V`, then click it
Delete a mark	`Delete`
Undo, redo	`⌘/Ctrl` + `Z`, `⌘/Ctrl` + `Shift` + `Z`
Back out	`Esc`: the selection, then the tool, then the crop

View and file

Action	How
Zoom in or out	`⌘/Ctrl` + `+` or `-`, pinch on a trackpad, or `⌘/Ctrl` + scroll
Pan	Drag the background, or scroll with two fingers
Fit to window	`⌘/Ctrl` + `0`
Actual size (100 %)	`⌘/Ctrl` + `1`
Extract the file	`⌘/Ctrl` + `E`, or Extract at the right end of the toolbar
Settings	`⌘/Ctrl` + `,`, or the gear at the foot of the rail
